Giving information to the media, Meerut-born Gulnaz Brennan said that SheInspires started the Empower50k Girls initiative with a legacy of 10 years. The UK-based organization aims to empower 50,000 girls from Uttar Pradesh, India. SheInspires, a UK-based organization dedicated to empowering women and girls, is celebrating its 10-year legacy and launching an important global initiative, Empower50k Girls. The organization has established its purpose over the last decade by becoming a symbol of hope and change for women and girls. With a vision to support and inspire 50,000 girls globally, the initiative begins from Gulnaz’s home, where she is launching the first phase of the project by returning to her roots in the state.
The Empower50k Girls initiative is dedicated to the memory of her beloved mother Muniza Begum. She passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. “This project has been launched in her memory,” says Gulnaz. “My mother was a source of strength and inspiration, and I am committed to carrying forward her legacy, providing young girls with education, health awareness, and opportunities that will shape their future.”
Under the first phase, awareness on girls’ health and menstrual hygiene was provided in five rural schools in the state. These schools received generous support from UK-based organisations, ensuring the success of the project, she said.

During the workshops, wellness packs were distributed to all the girls, providing them with hygiene products and educational material. After the training, a poster-making competition was organised in the schools, in which the girls creatively showcased what they had learnt. The enthusiasm and participation of the girls and school staff was highly inspiring, making this initiative memorable.
Gulnaz heartily thanks her incredible team who contributed to making the first phase of Empower50k Girls a success. Special thanks go to: Tanseer Ahmad, the project lead; Gulsha, her sister, who provided constant support; Gaurangi, the staff trainer; and Mr Madan from Milaap Superstore, who generously contributed to this initiative.
